If you’re a business owner who wants to market your business online but hasn’t figured out how to do it, then then this might probably be the information you’ve been looking for.
We often hear of companies that haven’t been doing well with traditional marketing but have become really successful with online marketing. Not only have these companies developed a website but they have mastered a step-by-step formula for marketing their business online.
This Formula consists of 5 easy steps as follows:
Step 1: Own A Website
The first step toward marketing your business online is owning a marketing-friendly website. A website is a representation of your business online. Similar to how your office creates an impression on your visitors so does your website. So the first impression always counts.
One of the worst things you can do to yourself has a good business with a bad website.
Step 2: Offer Valuable Information
Studies show that more than 80% of people who go online, search for information that adds knowledge to their brain banks while the other 20% go online to purchase goods and services. Your website should also be the same. 80% of your information should provide value and 20% or less should be about sales. You can provide value via
- Blog Post like this one
- Video
- Podcast (audio)
- FREE Courses and
- Webinars
Step 3: Drive Traffic & Generate Leads
To market your business online effectively, you have to focus on both traffic and lead generation. You can generate traffic via:
- SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
- SEM (Search Engine Marketing)
- Social Media Traffic from sites such as
- YouTube
Although most website owners focus on selling their products/services after generating traffic, it’s much smarter if you make lead generation your primary goal. After having the contact information of your target market you can always communicate with them anytime in the future to sell them whatever you want even if it\’s a couple of years later.
Step 4: Build Relationships Through Email Marketing
Since most of your subscribers do not know and trust you, you should focus on building a lasting relationship with your audience. This is by far one of the most powerful strategies when it comes to marketing your business online. Communicate to them on a daily basis using email autoresponder software. I use Aweber to do that, which I highly recommend.
80% to 90% of your email should focus on giving your list valuable information. It should answer the questions and concerns they have and show them how to move from where they are to where they want to go.
Step 5: Sell Your Products/Service
10% to 20% of the emails should be used to sell products that you believe will help your target market. Remember: It’s not about you making money, it’s about your target marketing getting what they want.
Understand what they want and give them!
