For ages, many have asked the question, where is success and how can we get it?
Does it come from getting degrees and PhDs from the most prestigious school? Or does success come from being raised from a wealthy environment? Or is it just pure LUCK?
This has been a question most people have failed to answer.
What these people are actually asking is, “is success influenced by external factors or internal?” After numerous researches, great discoveries have been found regarding this subject. If you read ahead you will be exposed to some of them.
Now I don’t know what your personal definition of success is, but to ensure we’re on the same page I’ll use a definition which you will find in any dictionary and that is “the accomplishment of an aim or a purpose.”
And since you’re running a business and want to see it prosper, I will mainly focus my discussion on business and monetary success in the coming days. Now back to the question, “Where is success and how do we find it?”
I will answer that question by telling you the…..
The Story of the Mississippi Girl
It was the year 1941 in the town of Mississippi when a 13 year old child was violently raped. This horrific event culminated into forceful impregnation. A daughter was born who in the coming years underwent the worst tormenting childhood any living creature could ever conceptualize.
Like her mom, this girl was also raped but at the age of nine and at the age of 14 she got pregnant to a son who ended up dying during infancy. In her teen years she had been sent to juvenile several times due her misconduct and use of illegal drugs. With the severe suffering she had been experiencing, she made several suicide attempts but with no avail.
If that girl was your daughter, how would you have envisioned her future? What chances would she have had to become a success? I bet it would have been very little to nil.
Little did anyone know that the girl would one day change history and break records? Little did anyone know that the girl would one day become the richest African American of the 20th Century, the greatest black philanthropist in American history and the world’s only black Billionaire? Little did anyone know that she would one day host a self-titled, multi-award winning talk show, which would become the highest-rated program of its kind in history; a show called Oprah Winfrey Show. Yes! That is the girl I was talking about;
How can a troubled girl from Mississippi turn her life around to achieve so much success while the majority is living in despair? What is missing in the equation? What magical ingredient did the child posses?
Is there an ingredient or was she just one of the lucky ones? My primary reason for transcribing these words here is to portray to you that there exists an ingredient and you should pay very close attention for it might reveal itself in the following sentence or following paragraph. Just keep your mind, heart and eyes wide open.
The Law of Cause and Effect
The Universal laws are what shape the world which we reside in. We are bound by these laws and no one can ignore them. If you learn and understand them well, the laws will work in your favor. The law of gravity and the laws of motion are but few examples.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re holy or evil, good or bad, when you jump from a building, the law of gravity will take its course and you will hit the ground.
Today I want to impart to you a law which has brought about your success or lack of success you’re now experiencing. That law is called, the Law of Cause and Effect which states that, “whatever happens, happens for a reason”. There is always a cause for any effect. If you’re making $400 or $40,000 per month it is due to a certain cause or series of causes which brought about that effect.
If you change the cause, you will change the effect. I’m sure you heard the phrase, “You shall reap what you sew.” That’s what the law is about and the beautiful thing about this law is that, it also states that, “If you do what the successful people do, you will achieve what the successful people achieve.”
In other words, if you change the cause, you change the effect. But where does this cause come from?
The Mind is The Cause, Money is The Effect
It all starts with the mind. The state of mind will arouse a certain emotion and that emotion will lead into a certain action (or lack of action) and that action will bring about the effect, which for this case will be the money that you make.
So, it all begins with the inner world, the mind. All that you see in front of you which are man-made were once in someone’s mind and later on manifested into a tangible reality. This is a Law known as The Law of Attraction which states, “Whatever has happened or happening to you, you have attracted it.”
But what is this thing we call the mind? What is it really?…
Honestly, I’m not sure. But what I’m sure of is that it’s the most powerful thing you posses; if you know exactly how to utilize its power. The mind is divided into 2 parts,
- The Conscious Mind and
- The Subconscious Mind.
The conscious mind is like the teacher, and the subconscious mind, the student. The conscious mind is the Captain and the subconscious mind is the soldier. The conscious mind is the coach and the subconscious mind is the player.
The job of the conscious mind is to train, coach and send orders to the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind accepts all information as it is and information which enters the subconscious mind will influence your actions and ultimately your destiny. These messages which go to your subconscious mind can either be constructive or destructive.
Now what information or coaching goes to subconscious mind?
Five Key Coaching Areas to the Subconscious From Your Conscious
- What you focus on: There is a saying which goes, “You are what you focus on most of the time.” Do you focus on the past or the future? Do you focus on failure or success? Do you focus on problems or solutions? What you focus on most of the time, will define who you are.
- What you’re saying to yourself: What do you usually say to yourself most of the time? Do you say constructive words or destructive. Do you say I can, or I can’t? What you say will also define who you are.
- The Images you see: If someone showed you a Million Dollar opportunity, but that opportunity needed a lot of hard work, persistence and perseverance; what images come to your mind? Do you see yourself making money or losing money? Do you see a positive image (like a James Bond movie) or do you see a negative one?
- What you feel: When an opportunity comes to you, how do you feel about that opportunity? Which emotions do you experience internally? Do you feel excited? Nervous? Do you experience fear or do you feel powerful?
- Belief: It is said that belief is a bridge between the virtual images in your mind and reality. Have you ever wanted to do something in the past? Something like getting into art or starting a business? Did you manage to do it? Did you really believe you could do it? It is a pity that most people want other people to believe in them before they believe in themselves. Henry Ford had a saying. “If you think you can. You can. If you think you can’t. You can’t. Either way, you’re right.”
So you now know how constructive or destructive our thought can become. You need to make sure you plant the seeds of positive thoughts in your mind to achieve success.
You can do this by following the…
4 Mental Training For success
From today onward, make sure you do the following: –
- Have a future dream or goal which you always see in your mind’s eye and make sure you always focus on the solutions, success and present activities that will lead you to your future dream.
- Always use positive language to yourself and others. Avoid the n’t words. Words like can’t, won’t, couldn’t and shouldn’t. Use words like I can, I will and I must.
- Spend some few minutes during the night or early morning to visualize what you really want to experience in real life. Be the director, producer and the actor of your own movie in your mind. Do not put any limitation. This is a process known as mind rehearsal. This process will give you so much energy and vitality that it will make you unstoppable. The subconscious mind cannot differentiate between imagination and reality. The more you rehearse on how you want your life to be the easier it is for your mind to make the body take action towards your dreams
- Write down your goals that you want to achieve in life. Short term, midterm and long term and dedicate at least 15 minutes every day reading your goals out loud before you sleep and immediately after waking up. It is said that it is best that you write your goals in present tense. An example would be like, I’m happy and grateful that I ………………………….. Then you write you dream. The reason you need to do it in present form is because the subconscious mind cannot differentiate between imagination and reality as I previously mentioned.
If you start these 4 mental training you will achieve success easier, faster than you ever thought possible.
And remember – “You can’t live a positive life with a negative mind”
