Let’s be real…
Network Marketing should be thriving.
The entire model is designed to explode. It’s built for exponential growth. The numbers make sense. The systems are there.
But in many countries—including my own, Tanzania—it’s just not working like it should.
Why?
Because people don’t trust it.
And the worst part? We did this to ourselves.
The Real Reason People Buy (And Why They Stop)
Look, we don’t need a team of business analysts to tell us why some people hesitate to join or buy from a Network Marketing company.
It’s obvious.
👉 The products are overpriced compared to what’s available in the regular market.
👉 The people buying them aren’t rich—they’re desperate.
Who are the real customers?
Not high rollers.
Not even the middle class.
The real buyers are people struggling with health issues—The Afflicted.
These are people who have:
✅ Tried hospital meds but still suffer.
✅ Turned to traditional remedies with no success.
✅ Run out of options and are willing to try anything.
Then, they meet a distributor.
They hear a smooth pitch… “This product changed my life. It can change yours too.”
And because they feel like they have no other choice, they buy.
Some see results.
Some don’t.
Some keep hoping.
Some pass away, still searching for a cure.
But then comes the real gut punch.
The Reason People Turn Against Network Marketing
Imagine this:
You just spent your last bit of savings on a product you desperately hope will help your health.
You’re sacrificing daily essentials just to afford the next month’s supply.
Then, you open social media…
🚘 Distributors showing off luxury cars.
🏝️ Flashy vacations in 5-star hotels.
💸 “Look at my lifestyle!” posts.
And you’re sitting there thinking…
“Wait… is THIS where my money is going?”
You see, when distributors start flexing too hard, they alienate the very people keeping the business alive.
And that’s why people turn on Network Marketing.
The Problem Isn’t Success. It’s How You Show It.
Look, there’s nothing wrong with success.
You should be able to:
✅ Drive a nice car.
✅ Live in a comfortable home.
✅ Stay in upscale hotels.
But does it need to be a spectacle?
Ask yourself:
🔹 What does it do to the person who just scraped together money for your product?
🔹 How does it make them feel about buying from you again?
🔹 Does it inspire… or does it breed resentment?
People don’t like feeling played.
And when they start seeing Network Marketers living big while they struggle?
They stop buying. They stop believing. They stop trusting.
And when trust is gone? So is your business.
So, What’s the Fix?
Network Marketing without the over-the-top BS is completely possible.
In fact, it’s the only way it’s going to last.
Here’s what needs to change:
✔️ Tone down the flexing.
You don’t have to hide your success. Just don’t make your customers feel like they’re funding your luxury lifestyle.
✔️ Reframe your marketing.
Instead of “Look at my car!” try “Look at the impact this business is making!” Show stories of real people benefiting—not just YOU benefiting.
✔️ Actually serve your customers.
Educate them. Support them. Build a real relationship instead of treating them like walking wallets.
✔️ Lead with integrity.
Stop chasing fast cash and start building long-term trust.
Because in the end, the people who truly win in Network Marketing?
They aren’t the loudest.
They aren’t the flashiest.
They aren’t the ones making everything about themselves.
They’re the ones who put people first.
